Cheering for Obama, Weeping for Osama

An ardent fan requesting a commentary on Osama’s Chart. Googled to locate his time of birth, with varying results from Mao hour to Si hour. I believed Mao is taken after some acrobatic effort to align it back to Beijing’s time (GMT+8). Then again, do one necessary realigned back the hour pillar to Beijing’s time? Joint our up and coming workshop and Master Ng will share with you the intricacies of such practices. 

Let’s just sideline the hour pillar for a moment and observed the Day and the month branch. Xin metal born in the Mao month, middle of spring. Metal controls wood, therefore, it is said to be born in the wealth month. Classical analogy prescribed that the day master born in the wealth month is rich for both parent and child. Osama’s biography in the Wikipedia stipulated he was born into a rich Arab family of Ben Laden. So, in order for such to happen, he must inherit a strong chart in order to be wealthy. You need the wealth of an empire to support an establishment such as the Al-Qaeda. 

Fall back to the trinity theory of in Season, Location and Formation, season is unsupportive and the stem does not fall within reach to strengthen the Day master. A large probability that Osama’s chart is a weak Xin day master. So, where has the interpretation of the classic gone so very wrong that a weak day master born in the wealth month means his parent is going to be bankrupt the moment he is born? Master Ng will able to tell you why?

Next, assumed that Mao hour is correct. We will see 2 FuYin, which is a technical term in BaZi sometimes known as Hidden Siren. If such structure compatible with the house AiXing structure one is living in it, then a possible death event may occur and the remaining question is who? Otherwise, such “Crying Event”, which happen when one is cheering for Obama and weeping for Osama, is entirely different. Noticeable treat, first and the last line of defense is completely null, leaving the Day master vulnerable for attack. Do you see FuYin beyond just crying event? Better, go ask Master Ng.

ZPZQ And BaZi Workshop 2011

One way to translate such verse:

丙辛合而不化，无丙可用辛制甲，无辛可用丙化甲，两皆有用，因合而两失其用也。

This combination of Bing and Xin cannot transformed, with the absent of Bing can be used

Xin to counter Jia, with the absent of Xin can use Bing fire to exhaust Jia, both are usable, however, the combination of both, fail to be used.

What is this phrase trying to say?

Let’s look at the fundamental. Wu person born in spring, technically a weak chart. Bing and Xin tendency to combine. It is said that this combination does not transform into water. There is no further explanation as to why it does not transform. However it does attempt to show the concept of ‘fail to be used’. It should have been read: - 

When Bing and Xing cannot transform into the third element, because of Bing, Xin cannot counter Jia. So, Xin is failed to be used.

When Bing and Xing transformed into the third element, because of Xin, Bing cannot exhaust Jia. So, Bing is failed to be used.

Even saying thus, ‘fail to be used’ is just a notion to state if it transforms, it does what. If it doesn’t it does what.

Classics: ZPZQPZ Example 2

Another example from ZPZQ. The script says: -

"戊癸相合，而癸水通根，泄气太重，以戊土扶身制伤为用。此为实业家洗冠生造"

ShiXiang aka BaiMa translated as: -

"... Wu and Gui combined, with  water rooted as qi leakage (self weaken) is too strong, thus Wu earth which can support self is used to counter hurting officer (gui water)..."

This Geng person is classified as a weak chart. Gui combines Wu has the tendency to form Fire. However it is implied that fire cannot transform. The classical rationale as Output rooted thus weakened the weak chart further has no bearing whatsoever to its ability of the output star to combine with the resource star to form fire. It suggests, it is better that such transformation does not occur so that resource star can keep the output star in control. No fire was mentioned in this phrase and Yin combines Hai is kept silence for unknown reasons.

Classics: ZPZQPZ Example 1

SiXiang has done a remarkable job attempting to translate  ZiPing ZhenQuan PingZhu (子平真诠评注) and thus spark some interest in us to understand the substances of such classics as with one example given, it states that: -

"... 丙辛相合，而官旺通根。此为官多同煞，以丙火制官为用也。此为安徽主席刘镇华之造 ..."

It translates to: -

"  Bing and Xin combine, the Authority is prosperous and rooted. Such is known as "Too strong of Authority equals 7Killings". Bing fire is used to control Authority..."

Strange, Bing and Xin is not even side by side. How to combine? Second, this is a Direct Authority structure and where do we find Seven Killing? Fire to control Metal, yet fire is not even rooted and how possible can it controls metal which is rooted in the seasonal branch? Better, using imagery method, where do you find the "Sun" Bing fire in the wee hour of the morning, Yin? Now, this is the problem with reading the classics and I liked the idea that this classic is written for the experts of that time in order of the Qing Dynasty. It is assumed that readers are well versed with the fundamental of BaZi. 

Our humble opinion, One way to read this chart is that the Jia Day Master born in You month (Autumn), untimely, supported only by Yin branch and Gui stem is technically a weak chart, favoring Self, Resource and Authority. The Authority is absolutely strong and wouldn't this be favorable? However, contrary to popular believes, Earth is the arbitrating element but was unfortunately not protruding in the chart. So, the next choice in line would be naturally fire. In a weak chart, wouldn't fire and earth be the negative gods and yet it is said to be the useful god instead? However, that doesn't mean Earth is not important and will be dormant forever or this person would need to live in the Sahara for his lack of Earth in the stem.

Another postulation is Authority is rooted in the month pillar making the structure of this chart as the Direct Authority structure, it can be said that the Direct Authority becomes so strong that it takes the traits of a Seven Killing (7K) natures – “Abundant of officer equals 7K”. Another way of saying the stubborn Direct Authority structure is negative, implying that this Jia person would do things by the book without compromising is equally bad as a person who would do things without boundaries – The Extremist. This is only true when Earth as an arbitrating element is missing. By saying Fire is used to counter Authority, it implies Fire is used to produce Earth. This is as though using money to buy officer – Bribery! At the end of the line, your Officer (Authority) would listen to you, a typical suggestion given the background context of the Qing Aristocratic Society.
 

Now, is that exactly the Classics try to tell us?

Accurate Way To Understand Strength Of BaZi

In view of the upcoming BaZi workshop, let’s discuss about the strength of the Day. This is a BaZi chart from the internet. Someone asked, what is the ACCURATE way to determine the strength of the Day? Someone volunteered his BaZi for dissertation. This is not a simple example to start with.

Gui born in autumn - born in season. No supporting element neither in the stem nor the branch. One perspective state, this is a strong chart because he is born in season and can disregard the rest of the qualifier. Another state that he is a lopsided fake follower chart being only supported by one element in the branch. While others, state that it is a weak chart because it does not fulfilled the other qualifiers. So, which is which?

If a weak chart, he favors water and metal. Earth is Ghost. Otherwise, fake follower or a strong chart favors wood and fire. Earth is nobleman. So, which is which? The entire chart is read differently with the wrong diagnosis of its strength. That is the DANGER!

There must be the ACCURATE way to determine the strength of the Day. It is only a judgmental where the chart does not match the life of the person in question. How about the issue of in-between? Liked strong and yet not so strong? The in-between is one reason why students go astray when reading such chart. This is very dangerous for DIY student with misleading information.

How about structure? Born in Shen, Direct Resource (DR) structure.  No resource in stem, too much earth and fire instead. Inclined to be influenced by earth rather than metal? Follow the season school will state that it is a DR structure whereas other differs. So, which is which again? The structure may be read differently with the wrong diagnosis of its influences to the Day. That is another DANGER!

Assume that it is DR structure. In a fanciful name it can be coined as a PONDERING profile. What makes a good PONDERER and a bad one resides on the strength of the Day. If it is a weak one, then the PONDERER is a good one. Whereas, for a strong one, then the PONDERER is a bad one. Good and bad are the different sides of the same coin. You can figure out yourself, if one is knowledgeable and resourceful while the other being stupid and damn lazy. Isn’t the strength of the Day being very important to know what works for you or against you?

Knowing what works for and against you, you would want to strategize, meaning using only the good sides and suppressing the bad one. Peep a little deeper, being a PONDERER you can be either the Direct PONDERER or the Indirect PONDERER. Others coined it as the ANALYST and the DREAMER. In the case example, it is an ANALYST. Being one, the strength and weaknesses are all annexed to the strength of the Day again! Isn’t the strength of the Day being extremely important to know what works for you or against you?

For beginners, strength of the Day becomes extremely important before we even consider the other layers of the elemental interactions called the 10 gods in the 8 palaces. It allows you to have a stepping stone in reading a chart. Doing it pictorially and disregard on its strength is yet another cup of tea. Doing it DIY? Better think again… very dangerous.

A Spring Seasonal Chart - What Is The Useful God?

This is an interesting Chart where the roots are lushly covered in Spring and supported by the wood month. Note also the 3 stubborn pillars. Will this be another follower chart or just simply a weak chart? Given such, what would be his useful gods?

Financial Issue - A Weak Or Another Follower Chart

This is the chart of the wife who is suffering from bad luck as mentioned in Yifengshui blog: When there is no warranty in a FengShui audit and I find it a little bit interesting as it can be read as a weak chart or a fake follower chart. Perhaps anyone out there may shed some lights?

Gui born in Wu (Summer), with Si,Wu Wei, forming the entire Summer seasons and Ding revealed. Overly powered by fire, thus making the chart imbalance. Too much fire.

So, for the Gui DM, this is a weak chart. It could also be a terribly weak chart that no amount of strengthening is able to arbitrate it. We sometimes call it a fake follower chart (special chart), but  the self rooted in the spouse palace. Can this be a fake follower chart?

Well, no wonder she is so capable to be easily conned by unscrupulous FengShui master because of her GuiHai day pillar. When will the GuiHai turns negative, that is the answer to its strength of the chart.

Different Stroke

Finally, BaziDiary has got his inspiration back in the Chen Hour to update his blog. Welcome back!

What caught my attention was this statement: -

“… But by layering different ‘schools of thoughts’ the reading becomes more accurate. That is one reason why I always do my analysis (online consults) via a questions and answers approach…”.

Most school advocates the strength of the chart as the entry level in deciphering BaZi.

Take the following example: - This Yi Wood is born in season. Not supported by stems and branches. One school of thought states that when the season is supportive it is read as a strong chart, while the others; this is structurally a weak chart.

Let’s investigate further; the entire solid winter is present. Born at night Ding fire is very weak. Seated on water thus painting the entire chart overly abundant with water. When there is too much water will it uproot the plant? If the chart is read as a weak chart, wouldn’t water be his favorable god, as weak chart prefers to see resource?

From the dialogue with this Yi person, we found that water related issues were prominent. Yet, if it is a weak chart, why would that be an issue after all?

Reading it as a weak chart is not entirely wrong. A weak Yi needs resource, water. In the father palace, there is a resource star. Reflecting on real life, it is true he is very reliable to his father in terms of finance and materials. Because water is favorable, therefore the outcomes to him are favorable.

So water can be both favorable and unfavorable?

In the more so called advance level, strength of charts becomes secondary. The context of the chart becomes primary. We only use the strength as a point of departure, not entirely as a reference cast in stone.

The overall context will single out the useful element as in this case is…?

So, I quite agree with BaziDiary on the layering of different strokes, but I constantly remind myself not to be confused and fixated to the rule of the games. Do you think otherwise?

Muddy Affair

A glance on this Ren water person is astonishing. Embrace by the solid wealth and resource, facing with the elegance of speech. Perfect for a leader or at least a super salesmen quality. Reminded me of selling snow to the Eskimo. JiChou for him is a little bit challenging and we just would like to know why?

First and foremost water needs to be clean to stay elegance. What we see is when a solid mud pillar comes in, pollutions sip in. Polluted water means polluted thinking. Our Ren friend is not going to think wisely. Not being able to think wisely will result in his unsentimental output. This is when the bumpy rides occurred. Born in the month when water is trapped, he favors resource. Resource is idea. Idea is wealth to him. When the year comes when he cannot think out of the box, what would his output be? Imagine stirring a glass of muddy water, would that makes the water clean?

The Ren person is destined to be the boss. Boss doesn’t work. His subordinates do. That is what makes him the boss. However, one forgets who makes the subordinates subordinate, if it is not the bosses’ boss? Err… a bit confusing. Don’t forget the boss’s boss is also the boss’s son. When Chou Wei clashes what does it means? Clashing with the boss’s boss means more confusion. Noblemen become petty people. Not others are petty but self being petty to others. Extremely calculative, becomes he.

GengYin comes with a different twist. Wants more? The same policy applies.

The Lady Of The Nite

Sometimes one get a request liked an "Agony Aunt" in the Sunday News that sounded liked this: -

"My name is A. I have a friend (female), still just a friend, and so far I try to make approaching with her but until now I found that it's hard to make it. She know that I love her, but right now I feel she indirectly can't accept me (I still don't know the reasons, maybe about my character, my status, my wealthiness, etc not suitable with her preference?). And many times I try to make approaching but the results still not so good. Please tell me everything what you know about her life, especially in a romance matter. I just make sure that Is she a woman worthy to be loved? So I can avoid unwanted occurrence of love or marital in the future. She has exactly 2 moles under right eyes, and some of my friends said that this is not a good moles especially for woman but I don't know why. If you have addition information about her natal chart, please let me know. So far I have consult some BaZi Master and some of them said that:

"When it comes to relationship with the opposite sex, she is inclined to be overly assertive and this may lead to communication problem. The Hurting Officer suggests a tendency to impose her will on others and your actions can bring misunderstanding with loved ones. There is further harmful interaction of the zodiacs that impacts on her Spouse Palace. This suggests marital problem cause by money and third party affairs. Her chart indicates that she is very popular with guys and can be flirty. She is not the faithful type and can be quite rebellious. For her, the year of the Ox tends to make her prone to sexual entanglement....and so on"

Somehow we feel a little strange having to screen a perfect stranger for another perfect stranger. This comes to mind when someone actually pops in with a beautiful lady by his side, one fine day and start to ask you funny questions liked this. Will one say the same thing as said by the other masters? We send the man away and start to ask the lady in private.

Thus, this is a very interesting chart for a lady. With all the movements in the branches, yet appearing beautiful in the stem. Hidden 7Killings with the combination of the Direct Officer, not transforming, what does this means? "Thong Guan" water in arbitration, yet being the much needed resource on one hand and the lack of it on the other, what is going on with her mindset, thinking, emotions and if she is betray what would she do at the most extreme case? Would one take her as a wife or a concubine?

The Boss Of "Cai Guan Yin"

Here is another example of "Cai Guan Yin". There is a reason to call it in the order of Cai, Guan and Yin, being resource is kept to the left. In this chart it is called Yin, Guan and Cai, a reverse order. What difference would that make?

Anyway, it is still Cai, Guan Yin structure. Not supported by season, neither are the stems and the branches with the exception of Xin. Can this chart be a fake follower chart?

Officer and wealth rooted. He is a well to do corporate figure. Only 2 roots as compared to 3 roots and yet make such a big difference, why?

Cai Guan Yin

This is an interesting chart.

Yi wood born in summer, supported by the branch and but not the stem. Technically a weak chart. So, favoring water, metal and wood. Liked the chart of the millionaire, he too should have been a millionaire indeed? With rooted resource, wealth and self, yet this person is only of a working class. Why?

So, does owning a so called, "Cai, Guan and Yin" means a millionaire chart? Think about it...

Then, what happened to him at the following day, with technically, in DingHai Luck Pillar?

酉 午 酉 丑

A Rich Man Chart

“… I have the set of rules from Joseph Yu, saying like this:

1. The DM is untimely and has no roots. Minor roots NOT in the month branch are allowed.

2. There must be one RULING GOD that is the strongest in the chart. This GOD must appear in the STEM. The ruling GOD MUST timely.

3. There must not be any resource in the pillars. Minor resource in the BRANCHES may be allowed*If Resource appears in the STEM, it must NOT have even a minor root.

4. There must not be any major GOD that controls the Ruling GOD.

Have a look over my chart if you are free.... I suspect my chart is the Follow Power... Then, if you are agreeing, all the reading is different, my DM becoming the RULLING GOD, which is METAL... “ – A Friend from Nusantara.

Let us look at the chart. Jia born in You, autumn month. This is called not being born in season or the self is untimely. True enough, not a minor root shall be in the month branch otherwise it will not follow. Jia is only earthly supported by Yin and next to heavenly resource Gui. This cannot be a follower chart. It is just another weak chart, as there must not be any resource in the pillar.

This is a classic example of a rich millionaire chart with lots of properties and inherited wealth. The only shortfall is the useful god is not rooted otherwise it will be superb. Another Fake Follower ?

It was quite strange that when I started yifengshui.blogspot.com, I met bazidiary.com whose blog has been dedicated towards applying the art of BaZi to his daily appetites. Then it was an appetizer that has sparked many interesting ideas to come. Especially associating with a Ren personality with many ideas that can potentially be monetized, as he said. Then it came ShiXiang from artoflifez.blogspot.com that made the entrée with deliciously translated BaZi literatures from various sources to the otherwise English speaking communities that solely depended on books by currently 2 most prolific writers whose work only acts liked a teaser to the highly priced live courses to come. Hats off to him as he is assembling the entire rule base of BaZi from various schools and non biased compared to myself, although the adverts on his blog is some times, quite annoying. As for yibazi.blogspot.com, it will be another platform to spur discussion making it as dissert. Almost liked a salad bowl that makes the three comes together. Liked I always say, the SanYuan began with the three. So, with this blog, I received many queries ranging from reading a chart to identifying a structure especially pertaining to identifying the strength of the Self or the day master. Similarly to the fake follower chart of Miss Blue River, another lady by a pseudonym of CWC has the following request to make,

To start the ball rolling, my take is this is not a follower chart. It is just another weak chart. If recalled, ShiXiang did mention the followings: -

In determining the strength of the day master, The Three Main Rules are

1. The Season

2. The Ground

3. The Heaven

Here, Ji earth born in You month where metal is strong and water is prosperous, earth is however, weakened. Therefore, Ji self is not born in season. Second, one do not view on ground as just as just root. When there is no other earthly branch that support the self liked fire or earth (root) one can conclude it is not supported by Ground. Thirdly, the heaven. Here it is a little complicated as Ren and Ding may combine and transformed into wood. The question is will this transformation take place? Here, again ShiXiang has written a good piece of guideline as it states,

八月节（酉月）,丁壬不化

The eight month of rooster, Ren Ding does not transform.

When this transformation does not take place, it will render the chart as a weak chart. One has a self element and resource to break, even a fake, follower chart structure.

Therefore, in reading a weak chart, its favourable elements are earth, fire and in this case, even wood. Again, why is there a tendency to combine Ding and Ren when they are so far apart? Perhaps ShiXiang can write a piece of work on this.
